California Rodeo Salinas distributes record $919,000 to community organizations

California Rodeo Salinas distributed more than $919,000 to local nonprofit groups, youth organizations and civic programs over the past year, marking the largest overall donation sum in the organization's history.

The funds were distributed during an annual check presentation ceremony held at the Salinas Sports Complex on Sept. 17. The program functions primarily through partnerships with local service groups whose members staff event parking lots, run concessions, work as ushers and provide operational support during activities held at the sports complex throughout the year.

In addition to direct funds earned through event staffing, the California Rodeo Association supports community initiatives by providing scholarships and distributing complimentary admission tickets for charitable fundraising campaigns. Supported groups include organizations focusing on education, health and human services, veterans and regional agriculture.
